Christopher Jermaine is the chair of the Rice University Department of Computer Science. The department has 46 faculty members with a primary appointment in computer science, joint faculty with appointments across Rice's schools and colleges and adjunct faculty with positions at leading research organizations and companies.

Our research-active faculty work across seven research areas: Computer Science Theory, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computer Systems and Engineering, Programming Languages, HPC and Formal Methods, Computing for Biology and Health, Robotics and Physical AI and Quantum Computing.
