CS graduates biggest class in history

The Department of Computer Science graduated its largest undergraduate class in the history of the university, with 209 students receiving degrees.

Approximately 40 percent of the 1,000 students receiving Rice University degrees in academic year 2018-19 are from the School of Engineering. Most students who received Rice degrees are from the Department of Computer Science.

The number of Rice engineering graduates has grown more than 120 percent in the last ten years.

“This is an illustration of the continued growing interests in engineering, and the importance that engineers play in all aspects of today’s society,” said Reginald DesRoches, the William and Stephanie Sick Dean of the George R. Brown School of Engineering.

“I am very proud of the accomplishments of this class and can’t wait to see the many ways that they will change the world.”

The 106th Rice University Commencement took place on May 10 and 11.
